Six Senses Laamu is one of the most unique resorts in the Maldives, known for its eco-friendly philosophy and famous “no shoes, no news” concept — embracing barefoot luxury at its finest. It is the only five-star resort on the Laamu Atoll, an extremely secluded and unspoiled location even by Maldivian standards.
Six Senses Laamu is located in the Laamu Atoll, approximately 264 kilometres south of Malé.
Villas are set either on stilts over the water or on the beachfront, and are an easy wander from the resort’s restaurants, lounges, and attractions. Larger two-bedroom villas feature a private pool and outdoor shower, while overwater bungalows have bamboo enclosures for privacy and rooftop decks with 360-degree panoramic views.
Food is one of the resort’s greatest strengths. Highlights include Leaf Restaurant — located over the organic garden and considered worthy of a Michelin star — Zen for Japanese-inspired dining, and Sip Sip, a poolside restaurant loved for its pizzas and relaxed vibe.
Six Senses is one of the very few islands in the Maldives close to four surf breaks, two of them among the best in the Maldives. The PADI certified dive centre runs diving trips daily, and the house reef is home to sting rays, green turtles, and rich marine life.
The resort embraces a deep commitment to sustainability, with an organic garden, composting, water desalination, and marine conservation programs — making it one of the most eco-conscious properties in the Maldives.
There are two options to reach the resort:
Option 1 — Seaplane (Recommended) A scenic 65-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport (Malé). The resort’s private seaplane, “Flying Turtle,” is operated by Trans Maldivian Airways — a specially customized 12-seat De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, exclusively for Six Senses Laamu guests. Upon arrival, the seaplane lands on water near the island, and guests are transported to shore by boat.
Round-trip seaplane fare is USD 1,199 per adult and USD 700 for children aged 2–11. Seaplanes only operate during daylight hours, so guests must arrive in Malé before 3:00 PM to guarantee a same-day transfer. Baggage allowance is 20kg checked + 5kg hand luggage.
Option 2 — Domestic Flight + Speedboat A 45-minute domestic flight to Kadhdhoo Airport (KDO), operated by Maldivian Airlines on an ATR-72 aircraft, followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride to the resort. This option is available for guests arriving too late for the seaplane.
Tip: The resort arranges all transfers — guests simply need to provide flight details and passport names at least 7 days before arrival.
Greet the morning with a sun-filled international gourmet breakfast.
Perched above the organic garden, talented chefs work with local ingredients sourced from Maldivian fishermen and farmers to create innovative dishes. The restaurant features an ever-changing Mediterranean menu for dinner.
Twelve guests are invited nightly to the upper deck of the unique overwater area for authentic Japanese cuisine including the finest sushi and sashimi.
Built over the water and on several levels, Chill Bar presents a resident DJ to set the mood every evening while mixologists prepare cocktails with the freshest ingredients. A Vietnamese menu is available throughout the day, along with the light beach classics. Every evening the resident DJ sets the ambient atmosphere by creating musical memories.
This open air, two-story overwater dining venue begins each day with a bountiful breakfast. Dinner is an a-la-carte international menu of fresh catch, grilled meats, pastas and Asian flavors. Twice a week, the resort’s chefs create a unique buffet experience for guests, with local and fresh ingredients.
Each Tuesday is a seafood buffet and an Asian buffet is featured on Fridays.
